PORT CITY BASSMASTERS
Port City Bassmasters Club History

Background of Club is as follows:
1977-Port City Bassmasters was created and Chartered as a Bass Anglers Sportsman Society Charter Club by Lance Perticone.
1980-Became affiliated with the New York State Bass Chapter Federation.
1986-Awarded NYSBCF Most Improved Club.
1987-Awarded NYSBCF Club Of the Year. (Awarded to Club most active in Youth, Charity, Conservation and Tournament Participation.)
2001-Emerged into the Computer Age with our Web Site created and still maintained by Member Ray Gardner.

Since 1980 our Club has been active in Federation Tournaments with several top 5 finishes in the Club Team Championship and Federation Tournaments.
Members have won Individual Federation Tournaments, qualified for National Federation Regionals and been awarded Sportsman Of the Year.

Members Don Quonce, Gary Day, Ken Bracy, Roger Mantor, Nolan Edwards and Ron Bracy finished 3rd in the New York B.a.s.s. Chapter Federation Club Team Championships on Lake Champlain August 25th & 26th 2007

David Ottman of the Gander Mountain Pro Staff and member of Port City Bassmasters brought home a second-place finish and a $25,000 Triton Boat certificate along with a $250 cash award for Big Bass (tie) on his final day of the Empire Chase Lake Erie Elite Series event as a Non boater held July 18-21, 2007 in Buffalo.

Since our beginning in 1977, we have held a tournament trail that has included between four and eight tournaments per year. We have been active in Youth Tournaments, Charities and Fund Raising. We practice good conservation ethics with Catch and Release Tournaments and petition State and Federal Legislators to enact Conservation Laws that benefit fishing resources.

Our membership has varied from a low of Ten to as many as Fifty.
Currently we stand at Thirty Members.

For those who may be new to Tournament fishing, they are done with artificial lures only, no live bait is allowed, and are normally scheduled on a Sunday regardless of the weather. Hope you enjoy our Site and if you need more info about our club, please use our Contacts Page.   Ray G

Please feel free to visit our Web site any time, and please sign the guestbook if you have any comments or suggestions about this site.

It is with deepest regret that Port City Bassmasters announces the loss of one of its members. Billy H. Carris passed away early Sunday morning on June 25th, 2006 in a Pittsburg Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for his recent organ trans-plant. Billy will be fondly remembered and missed by all who had the priveledge of knowing him for his great outlook on life and the fun loving attitude he always brought with him wherever he went. He was a long time member/friend of Port City Bassmasters.
